Tips for keeping your Beagle Fit and Trim
Daily Walks

Two daily 20-minute walks at a brisk pace is the recommendation by the book, Beagles For Dummies.  Besides
creating a healthy lifestyle for your dog (and yourself), these walks will also disengage some of the pent up energy
that your dog may later use to chew up a pair of shoes or empty the garbage can in a very bad way.  As your dog
enters its twilight years, one daily walk may suffice.  If your pet has trouble keeping up, make sure you slow down
so that the walk is a positive experience for both of you.

Even when a Beagle has a large yard to play in, experts agree that they are dependent on getting exercise
encouragement from a companion.  Because of their social needs, Beagles thrive on having companionship and
that includes having someone to take them on a walk.

Born to Run

If your up for a run, chances are your athletically inclined Beagles is well.  A good jog not only increases the aerobic
experience for your dog, but it also tires the dog much more quickly as well.

Exercise Benefits: There are many positive attributes associated with a strong program for your dog.  They
include an increased heart rate, lung capacity and blood flow.  Dogs will also develop stronger muscles and bones.

Unleashed Expectations

Because of the Beagle's wandering ways, it's imperative that you always keep your dog on a leash when you're not
in a secure fenced in yard.

Unless you want your four-legged
friend to turn into an overblown
paperweight, then it's imperative that
these energetic pets get plenty of
exercise.
Beagle Exercise Needs

Beagles
The energy of a Hunting Dog combined with the
appetite of a lion
Because Beagles are hunting dogs, the bring a lot of energy to the table.  A
major concern for this breed is that because of their popularity that extends
far beyond hunting circles, may Beagles do their hunting for scraps at the
kitchen table.  Whether or not a Beagle has a calorie-burning rabbit hunting
lifestyle or not, the breed will never lose it's strong appetite for lots of food.
With that in mind, Beagles need tremendous amounts of exercise.
